Benefits of a Technical Screen Fabric: A Dramatic Contrast Boost
The dark, matte walls of a traditional movie theater serve a specific purpose: they absorb light. The light reflected off the projection screen is thus contained within the viewing area. Without this, stray light washes out the colors of the projected content. In a living room, where walls are typically white and reflective surfaces are everywhere, the projected image inevitably suffers as a result. Our Infinity technical screen fabric solves this problem through its optical properties. Light from the projector is reflected primarily toward the viewer, rather than scattering throughout the room. The result: in a darkened room, the space itself appears significantly darker (because stray reflections are dramatically reduced) and colors appear with far greater contrast. That is precisely why our technical screen fabric is called "Infinity."

Benefits of a Technical Screen Fabric: Total Immersion
On a traditional Home Cinema projection screen, the black borders define the edge of the projected image and enhance the viewer's sense of immersion. However, this advantage becomes a visual nuisance when the aspect ratio of the projected content differs from that of the black frame. The letterbox bars above and below appear grey on a white screen fabric. This creates a mismatch between the black edge of the screen, the grey bars it generates, and the actual projected content — pulling the viewer out of the experience. The dark grey tone of the ALR Infinity technical screen fabric addresses this entirely. The black borders are produced naturally by the fabric's own color. This fundamental advantage of the technical screen fabric contributes to an exceptional Home Cinema experience by ensuring complete immersion.

Benefits of a Technical Screen Fabric: Home Cinema Projection in Ambient Light
This one you probably already knew before reaching the end of this article: a technical screen fabric delivers a great — even excellent — projection image, even in the presence of ambient light. This benefit comes from its ability to absorb all three types of peripheral light: artificial (lamps), natural (sunlight), and the reflections of the projected light itself off the screen. This last point is a particularly reliable indicator of how well a technical screen fabric performs. Our Infinity technical screen fabric absorbs up to 82% of ambient stray light.
