1 – Size your equipment correctly.
Too small an image and you lose the magic of the big-screen experience. Too large and your eyes can't take in the whole picture. A projector placed too close or too far and you won't be able to fit the image to your screen. Speakers in the wrong position and you won't get the sound effects you were hoping for…
All of these are reasons to think through your setup before investing in equipment. Every room is different, which means every project requires its own careful planning to deliver a truly high-quality big-screen experience.

2 – Don't overlook the projection surface.
As the centerpiece of your setup, the projector is often the most expensive piece of kit and naturally attracts the bulk of the budget. That said, it's a mistake to cut corners on elements like the projection screen in order to spend more on the projector.
The role of a well-matched projection surface is to reflect the projector's light as accurately as possible toward the viewer, while also minimizing the impact of ambient light by controlling diffusion.
The equation is simple:
Excellent projector + poor surface = poor image
Good projector + matched surface = great image

3 – Choose a projector that's easy to install.
Anyone who has never installed a projector can't imagine just how difficult — or even impossible — it can be to achieve a perfectly aligned image when the projector offers limited adjustment options.
If your goal is a perfectly framed installation, it's essential to choose your projector with that in mind. Features like lens shift (at minimum, horizontal image adjustment — you can always correct for vertical alignment with a motorized mount) are non-negotiable if you want to avoid a frustrating installation experience.

4 – Make sure your components are compatible with each other.
Whether it's projectors, speakers, audio receivers, cables, or anything else — manufacturers offer a wide range of models, and navigating that range can be confusing. But there's always a reason for it: each product tier is designed for a specific use case or environment. If your room gets a lot of ambient light, for example, you might be tempted to go for the brightest projector available — but brightness and contrast are competing characteristics. You need to find the right balance for your specific situation. Another example: to distribute video sources across your devices, you use cables, switches, matrices, and receivers to carry the HDMI signal. Be aware that each device uses a specific HDMI and HDCP protocol version, and those versions must be consistent across your system for everything to communicate correctly.

5 – Give your interior the finishing touches it deserves.
A Home Cinema can represent a significant investment, and the quality of the equipment reflects that cost. So why let it all down with poor finishing — uneven cuts in your drop ceiling or components that stick out like a sore thumb?
That's exactly why we developed accessories like our finishing kit and the recessed housing for motorized mounts: they make installation easier and ensure a flawless end result.
Beyond a clean finish, they'll also save you an enormous amount of time on site.
